Tim Cook Bio

I think we all know that Apple is now the most prominent tech brand in the world, and most of us probably use their products or applications in one way or another on a daily basis. However, one thing you may not have thought about is who the masterminds are behind the brand.

Well, thankfully, I have somewhat of an obsession with learning all about some of the most successful and influential people in the business world, which is why when I found out that Tim Cook was one of the men behind the iconic brand, I just had to find out how he got there.

As well as scouring through his journey with Apple Inc, I have learned a little more about Tim, such as where he went to school, his involvement with other companies, and a bit about his personal life. However, he does like to keep a lot of this private.

Tim is a huge fitness fanatic, who enjoys many sporting activities, but because he is such a private man, he even uses a private gym. One thing that he doesn’t keep confidential, though, is his generosity with the money he’s earned, a lot of which he donates to various charities.

So, let’s find out even more about Apple’s CEO in this Tim Cook bio.

Tim Cook Early Business Success

Where it Started

When he finished his studies, he worked as the director of North American Fulfillment for IBM’s computer business. He remained in this position for twelve years. After this, he went on to become the chief operations officer for the division of Intelligent Electronics.

Before he was hired by Steve Jobs at Apple Inc, he was the vice president at Compaq, but he only held the role for six months.

Someone else whose early career began with Compaq was Bill Gurley. You should take a look at his bio for another great read.

Apple Inc

It was in 1998 when Tim was employed by Steve Jobs as senior vice president in worldwide operations [7]. Tim took his role very seriously and soon got to work closing warehouses and factories so that he could replace them with manufacturers, reducing the companies inventory massively, resulting in the stable production of what was to be the iPod Nano, iPad, and iPhone.

Pretty soon, because of Tim’s contribution to the company, they were generating huge profits.

He was promoted in 2009 to the chief executive in lead operations because Steve Jobs was suffering from health complications. Tim was now responsible for the day-to-day running of Apple, while Steve had the final say in most of the major decisions from behind the scenes. [8]

Chief Executive of Apple Inc

In 2011, Steve was forced to resign as CEO, Tim took his place in the company, and the following year, he was named by Times as one of the most influential people in the business world. [9]

In 2012, he began making substantial changes to the company and earned one million shares from the board of directors, and it was at this point, that he pledged to donate his stock fortune to various charities.

Over the next two years, Apple acquired Beats Electronics and Beats Music for $3 billion, and by 2016 they had released the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch.

He currently holds his position in Apple Inc, with over 800,000 shares, and his solid missions and values continue to keep the company thriving and improving. [10]
