The company uses a subscription revenue model, allowing clients to pay monthly or annually. Kinsta’s subscription plans include:

The mission of almost all WordPress hosting companies is to make the best hosting service in the world, but Pantheon goes a step further than this. The company’s mission is to make the best WebOps platform in the world.

I’ve been keeping a close eye on the web hosting industry since it became big business in the mid-to-late 2000s. One theme has become apparent to me: the most successful companies have a business strategy that prioritizes diversification.

Raidboxes’ ambition at the moment is modest, but companies like Kinsta and Pantheon have already expanded their services significantly more. If it wants to keep up, Raidboxes must do the same, branching into new areas of WebOps.

It offers fast and reliable hosting for over 1.5 million websites, focusing on agencies and freelancers.

WP Engine operates using a subscription revenue model, offering clients a range of plans for managed WordPress hosting and eCommerce solutions.

Over 150,000 people and companies in 150 countries use WP Engine, including Network Rail, SoundCloud, and AMD.

Like Pantheon, WP Engine doesn’t just offer excellent services; it’s also a fantastic place to work. The company has won several awards, such as Great Place To Work’s “best workplaces for women” in 2019.

WP Engine’s estimated annual revenue is $222.6 million, putting it ahead of both Pantheon and Raidboxes. The company’s acquisition of Flywheel in 2019 for an undisclosed amount undoubtedly helped this impressive figure. Flywheel was a smaller competitor with annual revenue of around $18 million.

In my opinion, this was a smart move because, although the two companies were competitors, their expertise was in different areas. Flywheel focused mainly on smaller businesses, while WP Engine concentrated on medium and larger ones. By acquiring Flywheel, WP Engine could increase its market share almost immediately.


BlueHost is a web hosting company that was founded in 2003. Endurance International Group owns BlueHost, headquartered in Orem, Utah. WordPress officially recommends it, which is a significant accolade.

BlueHost’s services are reasonably wide-ranging, including a website building service, WordPress hosting, shared hosting, dedicated hosting, and domains. In 2015, it was one of the 20 largest web hosts with over 2 million domains.

The list of BlueHost’s customers is considerably less impressive than that of Pantheon. It includes Valere LLC, NexInfo Solutions, Inc., and Innogy Solutions, Inc.

This lack of notoriety comes as no surprise to me since BlueHosts’s website pales in comparison to the websites of its competitors. You wouldn’t get your hair cut at a salon where the hairdressers had bad hairdos, would you? That’s how I see it, anyway.

BlueHost was also the subject of some controversy in 2009 when a Newsweek article called it out for censoring the web pages of some customers from countries the US government considered to be rogue states.

While BlueHost experienced rapid success after it was founded, it seems to have slowed considerably over the past year, with the company announcing no product developments since August 2021, when it released its website builder without boundaries.

As you’d expect, SiteGround uses a subscription revenue model with various plants to meet the needs of each client. On its website, SiteGround advertizes that it can make sites run 500% faster.

The company’s business strategy focuses on hiring talented, friendly team members and turning them into experts to provide the best customer service. In the web hosting industry, good customer service is crucial.

SiteGround hosts roughly 2 million domains worldwide and has over 3 million clients. It is a direct competitor of Raidboxes because it operates closely in the European market.

The company has offices in Madrid, Stara, Plovdiv, and Zagora.

SiteGround’s current revenue is estimated at $66.4 million, putting it ahead of Kinsta, Raidboxes, and Pantheon.
